Artist Statement

I’m Dawn Leach, a Grand Haven, Michigan-based artist. Since childhood, I’ve explored music, painting, and fiber arts. While working as a Registered Nurse, art offered therapeutic relief. This passion evolved into a calling, leading me to pursue a BFA at Grand Valley State University. As a full-time student, I refine my techniques through dedicated practice.

My abstract paintings are created with mixed media that primarily includes acrylics and collage. Deeply tied to color, form, and design, my work is inspired by the spirit of human nature and the randomness it embodies. I craft layered, textured artworks that evoke calm and reflection, inviting the viewer to pause and contemplate.
